Nigeria: Dana Air receives accolades for SME support, sports enabler initiatives

Dana Air, one of Nigeria’s burgeoning airlines, has been recognised and honored for its outstanding contributions to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and its role as a corporate enabler of sports.

In a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Kingsley Ezenwa, the airline said it received the accolades at two prestigious events held in Lagos recently.

At the Business Day SME100 awards and conference, Dana Air received commendation for its unwavering support to SMEs in Nigeria.

Organised by BusinessDay Media Limited, the SME100 Conference and Awards, formerly known as Top Fastest Growing SMEs Awards, aims to acknowledge and celebrate the significant impact and achievements of SME companies across the country.

On many occasions, Dana Air’s commitment to fostering growth within the SME sector was highlighted, showcasing its dedication to the economic development of Nigeria.

In addition to its SME recognition, Dana Air secured the Corporate Sports Enabler Award at the Arena Awards, which took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel Lagos.

The Arena Awards are a prestigious platform that honors institutions, brands, and individuals contributing to the advancement of sports tourism in Nigeria.

Dana Air’s involvement and support for sports innovation, creativity, and resilience were acknowledged at this notable event.

Ememobong Ettete, the Chief Operating Officer of Dana Air, expressed the airline’s commitment to making a positive impact within the communities it serves.

Ettete stated, “Dana Air understands the need to not just exist in isolation but to impact the community in which we operate greatly and positively.”

Dana Air’s dedication to sports development is exemplified by its continuous support for grassroots sports initiatives and local league clubs in Nigeria.

In 2018, the airline unveiled a multi-million naira sponsorship deal for two Nigerian league clubs, namely Akwa United FC of Akwa Ibom state and Heartland FC of Imo state.

This strategic initiative aimed to encourage other corporate entities to follow suit, fostering a more glamorous and competitive local league.

As one of Nigeria’s leading airlines, Dana Air operates daily flights to major cities in the country, boasting a diverse fleet of Boeing aircraft.

The recent accolades further solidify Dana Air’s position as a key player not only in the aviation industry but also as a responsible corporate citizen contributing to the growth and development of SMEs and sports in Nigeria and beyond.
