Dana Air wins Gender-Friendly Airline Award, joins one million man walk for women advocacy

In commemoration of the International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024, Dana Air has declared its endorsement for the One Million Man Walk and the Pan African HeforShe Summit, organised by the African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO). 

In a statement signed by its Head of Media and Corporate Communications, Mr Kingsley Ezenwa, the airline announced that the events are scheduled to take place on the 6th and 7th of March in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The purpose of the walk, as emphasised by organisers, is to raise awareness and combat gender-based violence, a pressing issue in the society. 

The airline said the event also underscores the significance of inclusive decision-making processes and the advancement of women and girls.

Ememobong Ettete, the Chief Operating Officer of Dana Air, expressed the airline’s enthusiasm for supporting such noble initiatives. 

Ettete remarked, “The AWLO conference serves as a pinnacle for the organization, recognized as the most influential high-level women’s leadership forum.

“Myself and Dana Air, having been honored as a HeforShe Hero and Most Gender-Friendly Airline of the Year for 2023 respectively, are honored to align with AWLO’s values and engage in this significant occasion.”

“As a gender-inclusive airline and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s aviation sector, we have consistently backed crucial initiatives like the Women in Aviation organization,” Ettete said. 

He added that the airline reaffirms its dedication to driving positive change and fostering opportunities for women’s advancement, stating, “We are excited to support AWLO’s endeavors.”

Highlighting the alignment of Dana Air’s values with the upcoming events, Ettete stressed the potency of collective action in effecting positive change for women and girls. 

He extended an invitation to the airline’s esteemed customers, stakeholders, and the general public to participate in the One Million Man Walk and the AWLO conference, encouraging active involvement in the ongoing discourse on inclusivity.
