Diddy Seeks Release of ‘Freak-Off Tapes’ to Prove Innocence in Sexual Assault Case

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the mbattled music producer, has formally petitioned Judge Arun Subramanian for the public release of nine controversial videos, colloquially referred to as “freak-off tapes,” arguing they are critical to establishing his innocence.

In a filing reported by Daily Mail, Combs’ legal team urged the court to compel prosecutors to make the recordings available without restriction.

The videos, which Combs’ defence claims will negate allegations against him, have so far been kept under strict supervision following a privacy plea by one of the accusers, Cassandra Ventura.

Combs’ attorneys, who were granted limited supervised access to the tapes in November and December, now assert that unrestricted access is vital for trial preparation.

They maintain the recordings unequivocally prove Ventura’s “enthusiastic consent” and directly challenge claims that Combs retained the tapes as “collateral.”

“These videos unambiguously show that the person alleged in the indictment not only consented but thoroughly enjoyed herself,” Combs’ legal filing states.

The defence contends that the tapes, which were stored on Ventura’s devices for years and voluntarily handed over to authorities, refute accusations of coercion and blackmail.

The defence team has criticised the prosecution’s narrative as perpetuating harmful stereotypes about female victimhood and agency.

They argue that the recordings, though reportedly poorly lit and largely inaudible, are vital in dismantling the charges, which they described as “sexist and puritanical.”

Combs, 55, is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting trial scheduled for 5 May. He faces charges of racketeering, blackmail, and sexual assault, among others.

Prosecutors allege a pattern of coercive behaviour, including deploying associates to intimidate and silence victims.

One accuser claims Combs drugged and sexually assaulted her when she was a teenage babysitter, a charge his team vehemently denies.

This accusation forms part of a broader web of over 20 civil lawsuits filed against Combs in New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

If convicted, Combs could face life imprisonment. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and continues to maintain his innocence.
