Ethiopian Airlines Announces Twice-Daily Flights from Lagos Starting 1st July

Ethiopian Airlines has announced the commencement of twice-daily flights from Lagos to Addis Ababa beginning 1st July 2025.

The development promises greater connectivity for Nigerian passengers, particularly to destinations across Africa and Asia.

Mrs Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Area Manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, disclosed the airline’s latest offering, describing it as a strategic move to improve service delivery and reduce travel times for Nigerian travellers.

“We are happy to offer more flights and options out of Lagos. These extra flights help us improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers. Most of our passengers will now arrive their destinations faster,” said Mrs Mekonnen.

The expanded schedule includes an additional daily flight, bringing the total number of daily departures from Lagos to three.

The existing midday flight remains unchanged, while the new flights will operate in the early morning and late evening slots.

Specifically, four evening flights will depart at 10:00 p.m. (Flight ET 902), arriving in Addis Ababa at 5:20 a.m., allowing passengers to connect seamlessly to a wide range of African destinations as well as Dubai (DXB), São Paulo (GRU), Tel Aviv (TLV), and others.

Morning flights (ET 904) will depart Lagos at 5:40 a.m., arriving in Addis Ababa at 1:00 p.m., creating ideal connection windows for afternoon departures to destinations including Dubai-UAE, São Paulo-Brazil, Tel Aviv-Israel, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai in India; Istanbul-Turkey; Rome-Italy; Athens-Greece; Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, among others.

Ethiopian Airlines, widely regarded as the largest airline in Africa, has maintained a strong presence in Nigeria since 1960.

It currently serves the Nigerian market with some of the world’s most advanced aircraft, such as the Airbus A350-1000 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. From Lagos alone, the airline connects passengers to over 140 global destinations.

The launch of these additional flights reinforces Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to strengthening air travel between Nigeria and the rest of the world, while offering passengers more flexibility, faster connections, and improved travel experiences.
