Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline and one of the fastest-growing airline brands globally, has announced the launch of a new thrice-weekly passenger service to Hyderabad, India, commencing on 16 June 2025.
The addition of this route underscores the airline’s strategic expansion and commitment to strengthening connectivity between Africa and Asia.
The new service will feature three mid-day departures from Addis Ababa and morning arrivals on the return journey, operating on the following schedule:
ET 682: Addis Ababa (ADD) to Hyderabad (HYD) – Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
ET 683: Hyderabad (HYD) to Addis Ababa (ADD) – Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Mesfin Tasew, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, highlighting its significance in bolstering ties between Africa and India.
“We are delighted to commence a new passenger service to Hyderabad. Since our first flight to Mumbai, India, in 1971, we have expanded our footprint throughout the country, offering convenient passenger and cargo transportation services. This new service will not only enhance travel options for our esteemed passengers but also strengthen trade and tourism ties between the two countries and beyond. Additionally, it is a testament to Ethiopian’s commitment to enhancing its position as the continent’s top carrier with wide connectivity and world-class service,” he stated.
Ethiopian Airlines currently operates over fifty weekly flights – both passenger and cargo – to five key Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Chennai.
With the introduction of Hyderabad to its network, the airline further consolidates its presence in India, providing enhanced travel alternatives for passengers journeying between Africa, India, and beyond.
The new route is expected to serve as a vital link for business, trade, and tourism, reinforcing Ethiopian Airlines’ role as a major player in global aviation while offering passengers seamless connectivity and top-tier services.
