Ethiopian Airlines Group, the preeminent airline conglomerate in Africa, has officially unveiled its Jinka airport project, marking the commencement of operations at a cutting-edge terminal and support facility complex.

The grand inauguration ceremony, held in Jinka, a burgeoning city in the South Ethiopia Regional State, heralded the opening of the new state-of-the-art airport terminal, signaling a significant milestone for Ethiopian aviation.

Over the course of two and a half years, the ambitious project saw the construction of a sprawling terminal spanning 3,500 square meters, complemented by support facility buildings and external amenities such as an exclusive VIP parking area.

Speaking on the occasion of the Jinka Airport’s inauguration, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, expressed his profound delight, remarking, “We are truly delighted to witness the completion of the brand new Jinka Airport Terminal Building project that has been under construction for the last few years.”

“As a national flag carrier,” he continued, “Ethiopian is playing its part in the country’s aviation transformation, and Jinka is our latest contribution to Ethiopia’s modern aviation infrastructure.”

Mr. Tasew emphasised the airport’s role in enhancing travel comfort and facilitating trade and tourism in the region, affirming the airline’s commitment to continually investing in the renovation and modernisation of domestic airports.

With an investment exceeding 8 million Euros, the Jinka Airport Terminal boasts contemporary passenger service facilities, including departure lounges and VIP amenities, aimed at elevating the overall customer experience.

The completion of the airport not only enhances Ethiopian Airlines’ service offerings to passengers traveling to and from Jinka but also fosters a more enjoyable experience for tourists exploring the diverse cultural and natural wonders of southern Ethiopia.
