Ethiopian Airlines resumes flight services to Enugu, Kano
SEATTLE, Feb. 4, 2005 -- Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines officials have announced that the airline will be the first to bring the revolutionary Boeing 787 into service on the African Continent. Airlines all over the world are embracing the 787 because it provides what passengers really want: convenient, comfortable and affordable non-stop flights that take them where they want to go, when they want to go there. The 787s advantages for passengers and airlines are unmatched by any airplane offered in the market today or in the foreseeable future, said Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Alan Mulally.

Contact: Brian Walker, (206) 766-2929

Ethiopian Airlines has announced its planned return to Enugu and Kano Airports once the new terminals are officially declared open for operations.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government has announced a phased reopening of Kano, Enugu, and Port Harcourt Airports for international flights.

The airline recently operated a special flight to Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport as part of the gradual process of reopening the airport.

“Ethiopian Airlines is the only International Airline that operates to Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu since it was gazetted as an international airport, and also one of the airlines that operate into MAKIA in Kano,” said the airline’s General Manager, Nigeria, Mr. Shimeles Arage.

Arage added that Ethiopian has been operating in Nigeria since 1960 and has sustained its operational integrity with Nigeria during good and difficult times.

According to him, when the Abuja airport was closed for repairs, ET was the only international airline that flew to the alternative airport in Kaduna, and is committed to doing more.

“Ethiopian Airlines is eager to provide our passengers with our traditional world-class service in the most technically advanced aircraft in the world.

Before the Covid-19 lockdown, Ethiopian Airlines operated to 4 airports in Nigeria, but since the gradual reopening of the airspace in Nigeria only Lagos and Abuja airports were allowed for international flights,” said Arage.

The airline said with the completion of the new airport terminals and further improvements with the Covid19 situation in Nigeria, it will soon announce schedules for flight operations to Enugu and Kano.
