Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest network carrier, has resumed passenger flights to Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, marking a pivotal moment in fostering connectivity and collaboration across the continent.

The service, which commenced on 30 November 2024, was celebrated with an inaugural flight ceremony in Monrovia.

The occasion was graced by Liberia’s President, senior government officials, ambassadors, and executives of Ethiopian Airlines, underscoring the significance of the airline’s return to the Liberian market.

The resumption of this route signals a commitment to deepening economic ties between Ethiopia and Liberia while broadening travel options for passengers.

Speaking at the event, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer, Mesfin Tasew, highlighted the airline’s dedication to promoting intra-African trade and enhancing travel experiences.

“We are pleased to resume our flights to Monrovia, reinforcing our dedication to connecting Africa and promoting intra-African trade,” Tasew remarked.

“In line with our vision of providing the best travel experience, we believe that our presence in Liberia will enhance opportunities for business and tourism, thus driving mutual growth. This resumption of services represents the strengthening of ties and the bridging of cultures between our two great nations,” he added.

Flights to Monrovia will operate three times weekly, offering seamless access to Liberia through Ethiopian Airlines’ hub in Addis Ababa.

The route is expected to facilitate trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of both nations.

Monrovia, celebrated for its vibrant culture, historical significance, and natural beauty, is now more accessible to global travellers.
