Excitement as Winners Emerge in NASCHO Hair Creativity Competition 2024 Finals in Ogun State
The highly anticipated National Association of Hairstylists and Cosmetologists (NASCHO) Hair Creativity Competition 2024, held in Ogun State, concluded in a wave of joy and applause as winners were crowned at the finals.
The event took place at the Abigail Omotayo Event Centre in Ifo, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of over 370 attendees.
Sponsored by Kanekalon, the renowned Japanese hair giant, and its partner X-Pression Hair, the competition showcased the remarkable creativity and talent within Nigeria’s hairstyling community.
The atmosphere was electric, with attendees eager to witness cutting-edge hair designs.
The day began with an uplifting session of praise and worship, setting a spirited tone for the proceedings.
In her welcome address, NASCHO National President, Angela Akande, stressed the importance of continuous learning and growth in the hairstyling profession.
She urged the participants to actively engage in the upcoming lectures and quizzes, reminding them that the pursuit of excellence should be a lifelong ambition.
“We must not limit ourselves but aspire to greatness,” Akande stated, reinforcing NASCHO’s mission to uplift and professionalise hairstyling in Nigeria.
Adding to the excitement, Miebi Egbebo, a representative from Kaneka Corporation, Ghana, shared insights into the company’s evolution from fibre manufacturing to providing comprehensive hairstyling solutions.
She highlighted their strong partnerships with Nigerian brands, particularly X-Pression Hair, underscoring the international collaboration in hair product innovation.
Mary Sia, another key figure at the event, introduced Ruwa Braid, a revolutionary product set to be launched across all 36 states of Nigeria.
She described Ruwa Braid as a “magic” braid, thanks to its innovative water-resistant technology, a result of the partnership between Kanekalon and X-Pression.
This technological advancement, according to her, marks a significant step forward for the hairstyling industry.
The highlight of the day came when Oyebade Idowu and her model, Amosun Radiat, both hailing from Owode, claimed the top prize.
Their artistic flair earned them a brand-new generator, a cash prize of N150,000, and additional gifts.
The second position was secured by Adefonlu Owosimbo and her model Akinyemi Ayomide from Remo, while Babatunde Nafisat from Ifo clinched the third prize.
The NASCHO Hair Creative Competition is more than just a celebration of talent – it is a platform that elevates professional standards and visibility for hairstylists across Nigeria, promoting innovation and artistic excellence within the industry.
