FAAN Announces Temporary Closure of Runway 18R/36L at Lagos Airport for Rehabilitation

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the temporary closure of Runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation work.

The closure, scheduled to last from 03:00 hours on 3rd March 2025 to 23:59 hours on 4th March 2025, is part of efforts to maintain the airport’s infrastructure in optimal condition.

In a press statement signed by Mrs Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, the authority explained that the rehabilitation works specifically focus on the asphalt phase at the A2 Taxiway-link of the runway.

The move is aimed at ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of flight operations at Nigeria’s busiest international gateway.

FAAN assured airlines and passengers that the temporary closure would not cause disruptions to flight operations, as all flights would be redirected to the alternative runway, 18L/36R.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to upholding its core values of safety, security, and comfort.

Passengers and airline operators have been advised to take note of the development and comply with all operational adjustments during the period.
