FAAN notifies airlines, passengers of power shutdown for maintenance at MMIA terminal 2
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a scheduled maintenance shutdown of power supply at Murtala Muhammed Airport’s International Terminal 2 (ITZ-2).
In a statement signed by Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, the agency said the shutdown will occur between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM today – Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
FAAN explained that the power supply interruption is necessary to address urgent issues affecting the Bus Riser 11KVA high tension (HT) panel located on the ground floor, north side of ITZ-2.
The authority assured that the maintenance work will cause minimal disruption to flight operations and passenger services.
The agency said during the maintenance window, airlines operating in ITZ-2 will be temporarily relocated to International Terminal 1 (ITZ-1).
The affected airlines include RwandAir (WB), EgyptAir (MS), and Qatar Airways (QR). Passengers flying with these airlines are advised to proceed to ITZ-1 for check-in and arrival formalities.
FAAN has expressed regret for any inconvenience the shutdown may cause to stakeholders and the traveling public.
The authority emphasised its commitment to maintaining world-class safety standards and providing high-quality service to all airport users.
In line with this notification, FAAN aims to ensuring that all necessary measures are being taken to minimise disruptions and ensure a smooth operation during the maintenance period.
