FAAN Probes K1 De Ultimate over Alleged Disruption, Safety Violation at Abuja Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed a disruptive incident involving renowned Nigerian Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, during a scheduled flight from Abuja to Lagos on Tuesday, 5th August 2025.

According to a detailed statement issued by FAAN, the incident occurred at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, involving ValueJet flight VK 201.

The respected artiste allegedly attempted to board the morning flight while carrying an unidentified liquid substance, in violation of established aviation security protocols.

FAAN explained that under international and national aviation regulations – specifically Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and Annex 17 of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) – passengers are not allowed to carry liquids exceeding 100 millilitres through airport security checkpoints unless they are medically required and properly declared.

“Despite being informed of this standard regulation, the passenger reportedly declined to comply,” the Authority stated.

Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers and the flight’s captain intervened, repeatedly requesting compliance. However, the situation escalated when the passenger was asked by a ValueJet security officer to step aside for further clarification.

K1 De Ultimate allegedly refused the directive and instead poured the contents of his flask – later identified as alcohol – on the officer.

The disruption continued as the passenger reportedly resisted intervention by the Flight Captain, even after boarding had concluded and the aircraft door was about to be closed.

He allegedly proceeded to the front of the aircraft and declined to vacate the area despite repeated requests from the airline crew.

Following the disruption, FAAN confirmed that the AVSEC crime unit was called in to escort the passenger away for further investigation. After questioning, he was released, but the matter remains under investigation.

While confirming the incident, FAAN used the opportunity to reiterate its zero-tolerance stance on any behaviour that compromises aviation safety and airport operations.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria maintains an unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all passengers, crew, and airport personnel. We will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved,” the statement read.

FAAN assured the public that all individuals found culpable in the matter would be held accountable in line with the law, underscoring its dedication to upholding professionalism, safety, and full regulatory compliance across all airports in the country.

The incident has sparked public discourse, with many awaiting the outcome of FAAN’s ongoing investigation and the possible legal or regulatory implications for Fuji music star and others involved.
