FAAN procures passenger facilitation equipment for Lagos, Abuja airports
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has procured more equipment to address passenger facilitation challenges at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
In a statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, the Authority said it has observed the challenges faced by passengers owing to long queues at check-in and screening points of the two international airports, adding that the equipment to address the challenges were already being installed.
The Authority also disclosed that some of the procured equipment includes 15 additional security screening machines which would be installed at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) and the International wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
“In a bid to address recent challenges in airport operations and facilitation management systems at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja respectively, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform airlines, passengers and other stakeholders that the equipment required for addressing these challenges have arrived Nigeria and are already being installed.
“Also, additional 15 security screening machines have been procured for immediate deployment to the General Aviation Terminal and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. They are also been installed already,” said FAAN.
While the installation of the equipment is ongoing, the Authority has appealed to passengers and all stakeholders to exercise patience, assuring that the project will soon be completed.
“The Authority is using this opportunity to appeal to all stakeholders to please bear with us while the installation would last, as all hands are on deck to ensure speedy completion of the project,” said FAAN.
