FAAN strengthens Aviation Security with induction of 201 new cadets
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has taken a significant stride in fortifying the nation’s aviation security as it has inducted 201 new Aviation Security Cadets.
Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of FAAN, inspected the passing out parade ceremony held at the Digital Bridge Institute in Lagos.
According to FAAN, the STP 123 Course, a comprehensive eight-week residential training program, aims to integrate new cadets into the Civil Aviation Industry.
The primary objective is to equip them with the skills to implement, monitor, and enforce aviation security measures proactively, aligning with locally approved regulations.
Mrs. Kuku emphasised the agency’s commitment to addressing 21st-century challenges in airport and passenger management. “This ceremony not only marks a significant milestone in your careers but also in the journey of FAAN towards bolstering the nation’s aviation security,” she stated.
“It is also one of our strategic responses to the increase in the volume of passengers using our airports,” she added.
The Managing Director charged the new cadets to apply the knowledge gained during the training, urging them to embody the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
She underscored the global significance of aviation security, stating that it is critical to passenger facilitation and overall airport operations.
Expressing gratitude, Mrs. Kuku extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, for their unwavering support.
The induction ceremony witnessed the presence of heads and representatives from various aviation parastatals and security agencies, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, the Nigerian Police Force, the State Security Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and the Port Health Service.
