FAAN to shut down Enugu Airport for runway repairs
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has notified airlines, passengers and other stakeholders that the runway at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, will be shut down effective 00:00 on 24th August 2019, for major repairs and works on the airfield.
In a statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Communications, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, the Authority said the repairs were necessary, citing safety and security concerns.
“This move is aimed at resolving the existing Safety/Security concerns to flight operations,” said FAAN.
It added that a date to reopen the runway will be communicated in due course.
