Known for his wealth of experience in the aviation industry and how he has maximized the fortunes of his carrier – Air Peace – in just five years of operation since 2014, Onyema is touted as the right man with the right business sense to chair the event. With just two aircraft from the time it was granted Air Operator Certificate (AOC), the airline’s fleet has grown to 24 within the last four years, and is currently the fastest growing carrier in the entire Western and Central African Regions, connecting major cities in Nigeria, West Africa and beyond. The airline’s business drive is quite unwavering and worth emulating, as it plans to compete on long haul routes in a near future, targeting the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa and other destinations. The Communications Manager of Air Peace, Chris Iwarah, confirmed the Chairman’s readiness to grace the event with his resourceful knowledge and expertise in airline business management, adding that the annual seminar would “offer the players in the sector a platform to discuss elaborately on the challenges and prospects in the Nigerian aviation industry in particular and Africa as a whole.” Apart from Onyema, other experts of repute in the global aviation industry will also be in attendance and would present various papers on how to move the Nigerian aviation industry forward. Some of the topics slated for discussion include: Partnerships as Key to Survival of Local Airlines in Nigeria, Funding Perspectives of Aviation Security in Nigeria, Federal/State Government Partnership in Air Navigational Development and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Financing. Chairman of LAAC, Olusegun Koiki, said with the arrangement on ground made possible by the Seminar Committee, the league is delighted to have a business personality in the calibre of Onyema as the chairman of the seminar. “No doubt, Onyema is one of the major players in the Nigerian aviation industry and beyond. He will bring his wealth of experience to the table as the Chairman of the seminar. We are glad to have someone of his caliber chair our seminar,” said Koiki. According to him, “We are also expecting other resource persons from outside the country to deliver papers at the seminar.”
