FTAN Appoints Aminu Agoha as Acting Board of Trustees Chairman
The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) has unanimously nominated Alhaji Aminu Agoha as the Acting Chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT), marking a significant leadership transition within Nigeria’s apex private-sector tourism body.
Agoha’s nomination was ratified during the Federation’s recent Governing Council meeting held in Abuja, where stakeholders endorsed his appointment in recognition of his extensive experience and contributions to the travel and tourism industry.
He succeeds Alhaji Munzali Dantata, Managing Director of All States Travels and Tours, who has completed his constitutionally mandated eight-year tenure as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Dantata’s exit signals the end of a notable era of leadership within the Federation, during which he played a key role in strengthening private sector participation in Nigeria’s tourism development.
Agoha currently serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vista Travels, a prominent travel firm headquartered in Kano.
Widely regarded as a seasoned tourism professional, he brings a wealth of leadership experience to the role, having previously served as President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) for four years. He also currently chairs the association’s Board of Trustees.
In his acceptance remarks, Agoha expressed gratitude to FTAN members for the confidence placed in him, pledging to work collaboratively with stakeholders to advance the Federation’s strategic objectives.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the FTAN President and driving the implementation of the Tourism Transformation Mandate (TTM), a key initiative aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s tourism sector for sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
Industry observers note that Agoha’s appointment comes at a critical time for Nigeria’s tourism sector, as stakeholders intensify efforts to boost investment, improve infrastructure, and enhance the country’s appeal as a preferred travel destination in Africa.
