Gov. Nwifuru Seeks NCAA’s Technical Support for Ebonyi State Int’l Airport Certification
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru, has called on the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to provide the technical expertise required to certify the Ebonyi State International Airport.
Governor Nwifuru made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation (Ag. DGCA), Captain Chris Najomo, at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja on Monday.
During the meeting, Governor Nwifuru outlined his administration’s ambitious transport master plan, which includes the operationalisation of the state-of-the-art international airport.
According to him, the facility is poised to serve not only Ebonyi but also neighbouring states, including Abia, Benue, and parts of Cross River.
“The Ebonyi State International Airport is a cornerstone of our broader vision to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth across the region,” Nwifuru stated.
“We are seeking NCAA’s technical support and guidance to ensure compliance with global standards in aviation operations,” he added.
In response, Captain Najomo commended the governor for his proactive approach towards infrastructure development, particularly in the aviation sector.
He assured him of NCAA’s unwavering commitment to providing the necessary technical support and regulatory oversight to ensure the project aligns with international safety and operational benchmarks.
“The NCAA stands ready to assist in every way possible, as this initiative dovetails with the Federal Government’s ease of doing business policy. Your vision for Ebonyi State is commendable, and we are pleased to partner with you in realising it,” Captain Najomo said.
The Ebonyi State International Airport, once certified, is expected to become a critical hub for air travel and trade, boosting the socio-economic fortunes of the region and enhancing Nigeria’s overall aviation capacity.
