International Aviation College, Ilorin Celebrates Graduation of Ten Pilot Students

The International Aviation College, Ilorin, on Tuesday, 1st October 2024, marked the graduation of ten students, including nine Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) holders and one Private Pilot Licence (PPL) holder. 

The ceremony took place at the College’s premises along Airport Road, Ilorin, with various dignitaries in attendance.

The Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs) Mary Olufunke Arinde, represented the Kwara State Government at the event and personally decorated the graduating students in accordance with aviation standards. 

Speaking after the decoration, Dr. Arinde extended her gratitude to His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, who serves as the Visitor to the College, for his continuous support and dedication to the development of the institution.

Dr. Arinde commended the Chairman of the Governing Council, the management, and staff of the College for their efforts in advancing the institution, urging them to maintain the momentum for the benefit of the state. 

Addressing the graduates, she advised them to be exemplary ambassadors of the College as they embark on their professional journeys in the aviation industry.

In a statement delivered on behalf of the Chairman of the Governing Council, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Yusuf Gobir (Sariki Gobir of Ilorin), and the Rector, Captain Yakubu Okatahi, the Registrar of the College, Mr. Mohammed Jimada Jibril, expressed profound appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq and Dr. Arinde for their unwavering support. 

He noted that the Kwara State Government had played a pivotal role in the College’s recent advancements, particularly through the procurement of a simulator, the rehabilitation of existing equipment, the provision of a new transformer, and funding for the foreign training of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and a Flight Instructor.

Mr. Jibril emphasised the College’s commitment to upholding the confidence entrusted to them by the state government. 

He also thanked the staff and students for their cooperation and encouraged the newly graduated pilots to adhere to professional ethics and excel in their careers.

The College’s Bursar, Mr. Sanni Shamsudeen, also acknowledged the consistent support from the Kwara State Government, pledging that the College would continue its pursuit of excellence in aviation training.

Captain Barau Mohammed, a Chief Flying Instructor from the Nigerian Aviation College, Zaria, and a Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority Examiner, lauded the quality of the graduates. 

He remarked that the students had demonstrated exceptional skills during their final evaluations, and were well-prepared to compete on an international level.

The graduating students include Abdullahi Amir, Kuteyi Olakanmi, Mogaji Biliaminu, Jubril Sani Mohammed, Okuji Ogeri Niyan, Azodo Ikenna, Igwilo Michelle, and Ezema Chidera, who obtained their Commercial Pilot Licences (CPL). Abbass Lamido earned his Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

The ceremony marks yet another milestone in the history of the International Aviation College, positioning it as a centre of excellence in the training of aviation professionals.
