Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in a move underscoring the Federal Government’s dedication to enhancing safety standards in the nation’s aviation sector, recently led a high-level delegation on an inspection tour of Prime Atlantic Safety Services (PASS) in Ipara, Ogun State.
PASS, renowned for its specialised training in aviation security, maritime safety, and emergency response, is a leading Nigerian institution committed to upholding rigorous safety standards across the nation’s air and maritime sectors.
The Minister, accompanied by Ms. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and other senior officials, highlighted the government’s continued support for innovation and capacity building in the aviation sector.
According to Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, the visit represents a significant step in advancing Nigeria’s aviation and maritime training capabilities, bringing the country closer to meeting global safety standards.
During the tour, Keyamo commended PASS for its role in developing local expertise essential to the nation’s aviation and maritime safety.
He stated, “The Federal Government is committed to fostering partnerships that elevate the standards of safety and training in aviation. Our collaboration with pioneering institutions like PASS signifies our focus on not only local but globally competitive aviation standards.”
This initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda to establish Nigeria as a leading hub for aviation excellence in Africa.
Folake Soyannwo, Managing Director of PASS, provided an overview of the institution’s journey and mission, explaining that the company was founded in 2007 with support from a Danish partner and is committed to delivering internationally certified training courses.
She further noted that PASS is actively working to secure certification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which will enhance Nigeria’s reputation in global aviation and safety training.
Group Managing Director Ayo Otuyalo echoed these sentiments, stating, “Everyone working offshore should undergo training at PASS.”
This commitment underscores the institution’s dedication to meeting the highest standards in operational safety, ensuring that Nigeria remains competitive in the aviation and maritime sectors.
The inspection tour included visits to PASS’s advanced simulation centres, where state-of-the-art technology enables trainees to practice realistic emergency response scenarios.
Keyamo and the FAAN delegation witnessed firsthand the sophisticated facilities and cutting-edge safety training solutions offered by PASS, demonstrating Nigeria’s readiness to meet both regional and international safety requirements.
The visit reflects the Federal Government’s focus on fostering robust public-private partnerships with local training providers, promoting high-quality safety standards, and aligning with international best practices.
