KLT Command Undergoes Seamless Leadership Transition as Deputy Comptroller Adigun Assumes Office
The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a smooth and well-organised change of leadership, following the formal handover ceremony that marked the resumption of duty by the newly posted Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller BL Adigun.
The event, held on Friday, 5 December 2025, saw Adigun take over from Assistant Comptroller General E. J. Edelduok, who has been elevated to the management team of the Service.
The transition ceremony, conducted at the Command’s conference hall, drew senior officers, representatives of partner agencies, and key industry stakeholders.
The gathering reaffirmed the Service’s long-standing culture of orderly leadership succession and operational continuity.
In her valedictory remarks, ACG Edelduok expressed deep appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs and the management team for the opportunity to serve at KLT.
She described her time at the Command as both fulfilling and productive, attributing the successes recorded to teamwork, professionalism, and the unwavering support of officers and stakeholders. Edelduok urged all personnel to extend the same cooperation and loyalty to her successor.
Deputy Comptroller Adigun, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Comptroller-General for the trust and responsibility bestowed upon him.
He commended Edelduok’s exceptional leadership style, which he said had laid a solid foundation for further growth at the Command.
Adigun pledged to consolidate on existing achievements, with a clear focus on revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and the enhancement of operational integrity.
He called for sustained collaboration with partner agencies and stakeholders, while encouraging officers to remain disciplined, dedicated, and aligned with the Service’s mandate of safeguarding national economic interests.
Stakeholders at the ceremony described the transition as a reflection of the institutional stability that characterises the Nigeria Customs Service.
Many expressed confidence that the new Acting Customs Area Controller would provide decisive and effective leadership, capable of elevating the Command’s performance to new heights.
Highpoints of the event included the signing of handover documents, the symbolic presentation of the Service’s flag, and group photographs – formal acts that signified the official transfer of authority.
With the assumption of office by Deputy Comptroller Adigun, the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command is poised for strengthened partnerships, improved operational outcomes, and sustained progress in service delivery.
