Korean Embassy Hosts Dinner in Honour of Nigeria’s Customs Chief, Strengthens Bilateral Ties
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea hosted a formal dinner on Thursday evening in honour of Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi, as well as members of his management team.
Held at the Embassy in Abuja, the event showcased the ongoing commitment of both nations to enhance bilateral relations and strengthen the objectives shared by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Korean government.
The distinguished CGC Adeniyi was joined by high-ranking officials of the NCS, including Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) of Human Resource Development, Greg Itotoh, DCG of Tariff and Trade, Caroline Niagwan, and DCG of ICT-Modernisation, Kikelomo Adeola.
During his remarks, CGC Adeniyi extended his gratitude to the Korean authorities for their unwavering support and partnership.
“Through our collaborations with the Embassy of Korea and other international allies, we have been able to make significant strides in the modernisation of our customs operations,” CGC Adeniyi stated.
He noted that these partnerships have positioned the NCS to implement cutting-edge technologies aligned with World Customs Organization standards, particularly in data analytics.
“With the adoption of predictive, descriptive, and prescriptive analytics, we are now able to make informed, data-driven decisions that enhance our operational capabilities,” he added.
The evening’s host, Korean Ambassador His Excellency Kim Pankym, commended CGC Adeniyi and his team for their dedication to advancing customs operations in Nigeria.
He expressed optimism about future collaborations between the Embassy and the NCS, emphasising the mutual benefits these engagements provide.
“We are deeply honoured by the Comptroller-General’s presence here tonight and look forward to further fortifying our relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service,” Ambassador Pankym remarked, reaffirming Korea’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s modernisation efforts.
Adding to the evening’s sentiments, DCG Greg Itotoh acknowledged Korea’s proactive involvement in NCS initiatives.
“The support from the Korean Embassy has been instrumental in driving our Service to new heights. We are confident that, together, we will continue to foster growth and excellence within the NCS,” he said.
The evening marked an enduring partnership between Nigeria and Korea, demonstrating Korea’s dedication to Nigeria’s customs modernisation and capacity-building endeavours.
