Lagos Association of Traders Partners United Nigeria Airlines to Boost Mobility for Members

A prominent market association in Lagos, the Ndi IgboAmaka Progressive Markets Association, has entered into a landmark partnership with United Nigeria Airlines, designating the carrier as its official airline partner in a move aimed at enhancing travel efficiency for traders across the country.

The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Lagos, with the association’s President, Chinedu Ukatu, and the airline’s Managing Director, Osita Okonkwo, appending their signatures to the agreement.

The partnership is expected to unlock a suite of exclusive travel benefits tailored to the needs of traders, including reduced airfares, priority boarding, and access to premium airport lounge facilities. These incentives will extend beyond registered members to include their families, clients, and business associates, thereby widening the impact of the initiative within Nigeria’s bustling trade ecosystem.

To inaugurate the arrangement, the airline unveiled a limited promotional offer of 50 tickets priced at a discounted rate of N80,000 for members of the association, valid across its domestic network. The offer is designed to encourage early adoption and demonstrate the tangible benefits of the partnership.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Okonkwo highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration, noting that improved mobility remains a critical factor in the success of traders who rely on speed and efficiency to sustain their businesses.

He stated that the airline’s engagement with the association reflects its broader vision of supporting commerce and fostering national connectivity.

“This initiative is centred on delivering convenience and value, ensuring that traders can move swiftly and conduct business more effectively,” he said.

On his part, Ukatu described the agreement as a transformative development for the association, which connects an estimated 10 million traders within and beyond Lagos. He noted that the decision to partner with the airline was driven by its proven safety standards, reliability, and consistent service delivery.

Ukatu also acknowledged the enduring relationship between the association and the airline’s leadership, particularly its Chairman and Founder, Obiora Okonkwo, who holds the position of Grand Patron of the association.

He expressed optimism that the partnership would significantly ease travel challenges faced by traders, reduce operational bottlenecks, and ultimately contribute to the growth of commerce across Nigeria.

The alliance underscores a growing synergy between Nigeria’s aviation sector and the informal trade economy, with improved air connectivity poised to drive productivity, expand market reach, and strengthen economic integration nationwide.
