Med-View Boss to Chair 23rd LAAC Annual Conference
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Med-View Airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, has been selected to lead proceedings at the forthcoming 2019 Conference and Awards ceremony of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).
Having taken into cognizance his vast experience in the industry and as an operator to reckon with in matters affecting airline operations, the League found Bankole as a perfect choice for its 23rd Annual Conference.
A brief look at his over-40-years’ experience shows that Bankole joined the defunct national carrier, Nigeria Airways Limited, in 1978 and was appointed as a Traffic/Ramp and Duty Manager, and later as a Marketing Manager of the Airline at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
With his aggressiveness and unique approach to issues, he rose to the position of District Manager and was posted to Lome, Togo and other regional offices in Africa and the Saudi Arabia, to represent the African air giant at the time.
Speaking with the organizing committee in his office recently, Bankole said that the resolutions reached at the conference in the past had helped to shape the industry.
The event, which is scheduled to hold on July 17, 2019 at Raddison Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, will create a healthy platform for industry experts, far and near, to chart the future of Nigeria’s aviation under the theme: ‘Boosting Aviation Investment Through Policy.’
Expressing his delight for the opportunity to chair the occasion, Bankole observed that members of the league have been able to put the government on its toes through objective and analytical reports, adding that by ex-raying aviation policies every now and then, the government is being coerced into action.
“LAAC over the years has been our partner in progress. Members of the league have been tremendously useful to the growth of the airline and the industry at large. Without you doing the informative reporting, the industry won’t be where it is today even though, we know there are still a lot needed to be done.”
He said that the relationship between the two bodies had been symbiotic over the years and promised that the airline would continue to support the programmes of the league.
Another special personality to grace the occasion is the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, who will be the Special Guest of Honour.
Other Chief Executive Officers of aviation agencies, airlines and private service providers will be part of the discussion sessions at the event.
Notable among them are: Mr. Nick Fadugba, former Secretary General of African Airlines Association (AFRAA), Dr. Harold Demuren, former Director-General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Mr. Babatunde Irukera, Director-General of Consumer Protection Council (CPC) amongst others.
The 23rd Conference and Awards 2018 is expected to be attended by over 250 aviation industry professionals, cutting across the aviation agencies, security agencies, international and domestic airlines operating in Nigeria, aviation support services, travel trade sellers and buyers and captains of the aviation industry in Nigeria.
Key stakeholders made up of individuals and corporate organisations, who had distinguished themselves in the industry, would also be honoured with various awards at the event.
