Minister canvasses for affordable air fares for Nigerians as Air France-KLM launches modern aircraft

Nigeria’s Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has urged Air France-KLM to offer affordable flight tickets to Nigerian travellers as the airline launches new A330/A350 aircraft on its Nigerian route.

A statement signed by Tunde Moshood, SA Media and Communications to the Minister said he (minister) was engaged in discussions with a delegation from the global airline giant during a recent courtesy visit in Abuja.

Led by Country Manager Christine Quantin, Key Account Manager Antonia Kenosa Umunna, and Deputy Station Manager Damilola Ogunseye, the Air France-KLM team was said to have expressed gratitude for the Minister’s support and outlined key initiatives aimed at elevating aviation services within Nigeria.

According to the statement, the discussions centered around various topics, including the enhancement of facilities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, with particular emphasis on the improved experience at wing E. 

Air France-KLM also lauded the Minister’s efforts in fostering better relationships between their team and regulatory agencies within the aviation sector.

Highlighting their commitment to innovation, the delegation announced the launch of their new Airbus A330/A350 aircraft, emphasising their dedication to providing Nigerian travelers with modern and improved aircraft services on international routes. 

This move, according to the statement, is part of Air France-KLM’s broader goal of delivering a superior travel experience to passengers in Nigeria.

The Minister, in response, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for their visit, stressing the importance of equitable pricing for Nigerian travelers.

To ensure affordability and parity of price with neighbouring regions, the Minister urged the airline to consider offering low inventory tickets to Nigerian travellers.

Moreover, the Minister reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to fostering partnerships within the travel industry, emphasising the government’s open-door policy and readiness to collaborate with airlines to enhance travel accessibility and affordability for all Nigerians.

The courtesy visit by Air France-KLM signifies the mutual commitment to advancing the aviation sector in Nigeria and sets the stage for future collaborations aimed at delivering unparalleled travel experiences to passengers across the nation.
