MMA2 Reinforces Safety Standards in Preparations for Holiday Travel Surge
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operator of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2), has reiterated its commitment to passenger safety by holding a critical year-end safety meeting.
The gathering, held at the terminal in Ikeja, Lagos, aimed to strengthen safety protocols ahead of the bustling holiday season.
The meeting convened key stakeholders, including airport staff, airline representatives, and security personnel, to address emergency response procedures, risk mitigation strategies, and best practices in aviation safety.
Discussions centred on bolstering the terminal’s safety culture to ensure a seamless and secure travel experience during one of the busiest periods of the year.
“Safety is our top priority,” stated Remi Jibodu, Acting Chief Operating Officer of BASL. “By conducting regular safety reviews and training sessions, we aim to create a culture of safety and vigilance among everyone operating from our terminal, passengers and terminal users. We are committed to providing a secure and hassle-free travel experience for all our passengers.”
The meeting featured detailed deliberations on improving terminal operations, with participants sharing insights, feedback, and suggestions.
These efforts culminated in the recognition of outstanding safety performers for the year 2024, highlighting BASL’s commitment to fostering excellence in safety practices.
Nafisat Adeniran, Head of the Safety Department, emphasised the importance of collaboration, saying, “Stakeholders’ involvement and participation are very key in safety management. This stakeholder-focused approach helps improve our safety culture. We are ensuring that everyone is fully involved in both aeronautical and non-aeronautical safety activities in line with our safety policy.
“This end-of-year stakeholder safety forum provides opportunities to address concerns, manage expectations from feedback, and identify potential risks from a wider perspective for continual improvement,” she added.
The meeting also incorporated the joint efforts of the Apron and Terminal Safety Committees. These groups reviewed incidents, clarified roles and responsibilities, and aligned on strategies to achieve shared safety goals.
Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications, further underscored MMA2’s dedication to safety. “We understand that safety is a cornerstone of our operations and the trust passengers place in us.
