The Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautical Services at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, Remi Jibodu, has reaffirmed the terminal’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the media as part of efforts to drive innovation, strengthen the aviation sector, and promote economic development in Nigeria.

Jibodu made this known while receiving the Director of Lagos Operations of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Princess Adenike Adegoke, during a courtesy visit, describing the engagement as a strategic partnership between two vital national institutions – aviation and broadcasting – both of which play crucial roles in shaping national growth and development.

He commended the corporation’s extensive broadcast network and longstanding reputation for promoting national integration, public enlightenment and development-focused programming.

According to him, closer cooperation between MMA2 and the broadcaster would help project positive narratives about the aviation industry and reinforce public confidence in the sector.

Jibodu stressed that operational excellence, innovation, and passenger satisfaction remain central to MMA2’s mission, noting that the terminal was intentionally designed not merely as a transit point but as a destination in its own right.

He explained that features such as an integrated car park, easy terminal access, art gallery, retail outlets and a lively food court were deliberately incorporated to create a relaxing environment where travellers feel comfortable and engaged rather than stressed by delays or travel formalities.

Through Passenger Experience
Referring to the increasing travel influx associated with the annual “Detty December” festive season, Jibodu emphasised that the terminal’s role extends beyond infrastructure provision to tourism facilitation.

He said management has been intentional about cultivating an ambience that reflects a modern, welcoming Nigeria, particularly for returning diaspora and international visitors.

“As one of the first contact points for many travellers, the terminal carries a responsibility to shape perceptions about the country,” he noted, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration with institutions such as the national broadcaster would support tourism promotion, strengthen aviation, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Radio Nigeria’s Nationwide Reach
Responding, Adegoke described Radio Nigeria as a powerful communication platform capable of projecting institutional achievements across the country and internationally.

She highlighted the Lagos operations’ three major stations – Metro FM 97.7, Radio One 103.5, and Bond FM – noting that Bond FM broadcasts in indigenous languages including Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, as well as local dialects that enhance inclusivity.

According to her, wherever Nigerians may be, the network provides a familiar voice that makes listeners “feel at home” through language, culture and relatable programming.

Adegoke praised MMA2’s management for visible infrastructure improvements, professionalism, and enhanced passenger experience, describing the terminal as a shining example of private-sector efficiency in airport management.

She also applauded the growing international prominence of the festive travel season, noting that it has evolved into a global convergence point for travellers heading to Lagos.

She assured the terminal’s operators that the corporation would continue to amplify their achievements across its nationwide broadcast network and digital platforms, including online portals and social media channels.

She further pledged readiness to develop public service announcements and specialised programmes aimed at educating travellers on airport procedures, safety protocols and new developments within the aviation industry.

Industry observers say the renewed partnership signals a broader recognition of the role strategic media engagement can play in improving public perception of aviation infrastructure and promoting Nigeria as a competitive travel destination.
