MMA2 Training Academy celebrates milestone as over 3,000 aviation security professionals trained since 2019
The Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) Training Academy has firmly established itself as a premier institution in aviation security training.
Since its inception in July 2019, the academy has trained over 3,000 individuals, offering comprehensive and accredited courses designed to meet the stringent regulatory standards of the aviation industry.
Strategically located on the third floor of the domestic terminal 2, the academy provides cutting-edge facilities and a wide range of courses, including ASTP 123 (Basic), Aviation Security Awareness Training, and X-ray Interpretation and Screening.
These programs are delivered by both in-house certified trainers and external authorised instructors, ensuring a high standard of education and professional development.
Korede Ogunseinde, Head of Creative Services Department at Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, operator of MMA2, highlighted the necessity of standardised training in the regulated aviation sector.
“We have successfully created an avenue for all professionals to acquire more knowledge and skills through accredited training,” Ogunseinde stated, celebrating the milestone of training over 3,000 individuals.
Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications at BASL, emphasised the importance of security consciousness within the industry.
“Cultivating a culture of security consciousness is paramount in our industry. All concessionaires are required to undergo aviation security awareness training, fortifying our terminal’s security protocols and empowering participants with invaluable knowledge,” Yinka-Olawuyi remarked.
She added that this initiative aims to enhance vigilance and preparedness, thereby safeguarding both assets and the traveling public within the terminal.
The MMA2 Training Academy’s accreditation by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as a Certified Aviation Security Training Provider underscores its commitment to regulatory compliance and high training standards.
Monica Oguta, Head of Aviation Security at MMA2, praised the academy’s impact, stating, “Since opening in July 2019, the academy has skillfully trained over 3,000 individuals, underscoring our commitment to high learning standards within the industry,” Oguta said.
Looking ahead, Oguta disclosed that the MMA2 Training Academy plans to continue leading the way in shaping a secure and competent aviation security workforce, ensuring both professional growth for its trainees and enhanced safety for the aviation industry at large.
