NAAPE’s New Leadership Charts Ambitious Path for Stronger Partnerships, Policy Reforms, Professional Protection
The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has ushered in a new era of strategic leadership following the inauguration of its newly elected National Executive Council, which held its first official meeting in Abuja on Monday.
The gathering was described by NAAPE President, Captain Bunmi Gindeh, as a “significant milestone” that sets the tone for a more dynamic and solution-driven administration.
Speaking at the historic session, Captain Gindeh underscored the indispensable role of pilots and engineers in Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem, describing them as the “backbone of flight safety, operational excellence, and technological advancement.”
He charged the council to function as the association’s “engine room,” focused on delivering practical results across four priority areas: protection of members’ interests, constructive stakeholder engagement, professional development, and institutional sustainability.
The President congratulated the newly constituted council, noting that their election reflects the “trust and confidence” of the wider membership. He highlighted that each member was chosen not only for their professional competence but also for their commitment to the association’s core values.
Captain Gindeh emphasised the need for unity, transparency, diligence, and collaboration as the council works to advance the organisation’s mandate, urging them to prioritise collective progress over personal interests.

In a rousing call to action, Captain Gindeh reminded the council of the national significance of their decisions. “The decisions we make in this council will directly impact not only our members but also the safety and efficiency of air travel in our nation,” he declared, underscoring that their work extends beyond internal union dynamics to broader national aviation development.
With the successful constitution of the new executive council, industry stakeholders anticipate a more assertive and strategic NAAPE, particularly in areas such as policy advocacy, enhanced training standards, local content development for technical personnel, and strict adherence to global benchmarks for working conditions.
