The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nahco aviance) has honoured one of its employees, Mr. Auwal Dankode, after he found and returned a substantial sum of $10,000 during a routine cleaning assignment on an aircraft in Kano.

Dankode, who was tasked with cleaning the MS 878 flight operated by Egypt Air, discovered the money left behind by a passenger on seat number 25H.

Without hesitation, he handed over the cash to the Airline’s Station Manager, a gesture that has since earned him widespread commendation.

The Group Managing Director/CEO of NAHCO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, while expressing his admiration for Dankode’s integrity, announced a series of rewards to honour his commendable actions.

These include a generous cash reward, an instant promotion, and the prestigious appointment as a NAHCO Brand Ambassador.

Gupta, who led the Management Team in celebrating Dankode at the Company’s Head Office in Lagos, praised him as a true embodiment of the values NAHCO stands for – honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work.

“We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for. This act is not just about returning money, but about upholding the values that make a society thrive,” Gupta stated.

Mr. Gupta also took the opportunity to highlight that the majority of NAHCO’s workforce consistently demonstrates these core values in their daily duties.

He urged all staff members to emulate Dankode’s example, encouraging them to continue working with integrity and dedication.

Adding to the accolades, the Chief Financial Officer of NAHCO, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, commended Dankode for his innate integrity.

“The integrity you’ve displayed is something that cannot be feigned. You’ve shown that it is an intrinsic part of who you are,” Emiloju remarked.

The Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Didier Steullet, also lauded Dankode, advising him to remain grounded despite the recognition.

“You’re the example not only of the week but probably of the year. Stay on the good path, remain yourself, and continue to make a positive impact in the world,” Steullet advised.

Dr. Sola Obabori, Group Executive Director, added his voice to the praise, noting that Dankode’s actions have made him a global poster boy for NAHCO.

“In today’s Nigeria, where the value of the dollar is so high, by returning such a substantial amount, you’ve shown a commendable purity of heart. Your actions are appreciated not just by NAHCO but by every well-meaning Nigerian,” Obabori stated.

Overwhelmed by the recognition, Dankode expressed his deep gratitude to the NAHCO Management for the opportunity to work with the company and for the training that enabled him to earn a decent living.

“No one in my area has ever worked at the airport. I am very grateful to NAHCO for the training they gave us and also for this honour,” Dankode said, acknowledging the transformative impact the company has had on his life.

Dankode’s new role as NAHCO Brand Ambassador will see him representing the company at major events nationwide, promoting its brand, and engaging with top officials and stakeholders.

This new chapter in his life promises to elevate him from a modest background to a position of significant influence, further demonstrating the profound impact of integrity in the workplace.
