NAHCO Secures Five-Year Contracts with Lufthansa, Royal Air Maroc
The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO Aviance), West Africa’s largest ground handling service provider, has successfully secured new five-year contracts with two major international airlines, Lufthansa and Royal Air Maroc.
In a statement signed by Mr Tayo Ajakaye, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications, NAHCO, the company attributed this achievement to its reputation for exceptional service delivery.
The company announced that effective from May 1, 2024, the contract with Lufthansa, one of Europe’s leading carriers, will continue until April 30, 2029.
Similarly, Royal Air Maroc has entered into a comprehensive agreement with NAHCO for its operations in Lagos and Abuja, covering the same five-year period.
Prince Saheed Lasisi, NAHCO’s Group Executive Director of Commercial and Business Development, highlighted the significance of these contracts, especially as the company enhances its operational capacity with substantial investments in new ground support equipment.
“Lufthansa and Royal Air Maroc have made the right decision in staying with NAHCO, evidently the largest handling provider in the country. We just took delivery of billions of naira worth of equipment which would be deployed to service these valued partners. It is a thrilling development,” Lasisi stated during a briefing in Lagos.
Indranil Gupta, NAHCO’s Group Managing Director and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for these new partnerships.
He emphasised NAHCO’s commitment to delivering top-tier service, stating, “We are always happy to serve clients who depend on us to further grow their businesses. We will always go the extra mile to ensure that we support them to keep their promises to their clients to offer the best service.”
NAHCO affirmed that it has been proactive in enhancing its service capabilities, with recent deployments of various ground support equipment to its stations.
The newly acquired assets include pushbacks, ground power units, aircraft cooling units, aircraft air start units, tractors, reach trucks, forklifts, cargo and baggage carts, and pallet dollies.
This equipment upgrade is part of NAHCO’s ambitious plan to significantly boost its operational efficiency over the next two years.
Founded in December 1979 by the Federal Government in collaboration with four international airlines – Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Sabena – NAHCO Aviance has grown into West Africa’s premier ground handling service provider, with a presence in all major Nigerian airports.
It is now a publicly quoted company on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), diversifying its investments across various sectors, including energy, logistics, a free trade zone company, airport management, travel and hospitality, and food and beverage export.
