NAMA, Ekiti State Gov’t Sign MOU to Enhance Air Traffic Services at New Agro-Allied Int’l Cargo Airport
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Ekiti State Government have solidified their commitment to ensuring seamless air traffic services at the newly established Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport in Ado-Ekiti.
This partnership was formalised over the weekend with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at NAMA’s headquarters annex at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos.
The MOU, which represents a Service Level Agreement between both parties, marks a significant milestone in the development of aviation infrastructure in Ekiti State.
The agreement was signed in the presence of top officials from both NAMA and the Ekiti State Government, underscoring the importance of this collaboration.
In his welcome remarks, the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr Farouk Ahmed Umar, who was represented by the Director of Legal Services and Company Secretary, Mrs Isemiuhonmon Rita Egbadon, emphasised that the MOU was not merely a contract, but a “symbol of action, cooperation, and shared vision.”
He highlighted that the document outlined mutual responsibilities and expectations, aimed at delivering exceptional air traffic control services at the new airport.
“This MOU represents our shared dedication to excellence and is a pledge to uphold the highest standards of quality and performance,” Engr Farouk stated.
“Our collaboration will foster open communication, transparency, and adaptability in an ever-changing environment, as aviation remains a catalyst for economic development,” he emphasised.
Engr Farouk further remarked that by upholding the tenets of the agreement, both NAMA and the Ekiti State Government would ensure the success of the airport project, which in turn would prioritise customer satisfaction and economic growth.
He called on all parties involved to work together to achieve greatness, making the partnership a shining example of collaboration and excellence in the aviation sector.
On behalf of the Ekiti State Government, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro, who represented Governor Biodun Oyebanji, described the event as a crucial moment for the state.
She noted that the partnership with NAMA was instrumental as the state advanced towards enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of airspace and air traffic management at the new cargo airport, which is on the brink of full operation.
Dr Adubiaro expressed optimism that the establishment of the cargo airport would significantly boost tourism, facilitate safer and more efficient air travel, and contribute to economic growth, job creation, and improved connectivity for the people of Ekiti State.
She praised the MOU as a testament to the shared commitment of both parties to advancing aviation infrastructure and services in Nigeria.
“The primary objective of this MOU is to foster a collaborative partnership that will lead to effective air traffic management systems and ensure the highest standards of safety for all airspace users,” Dr Adubiaro said.
She reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the successful implementation of the MOU, adding that the partnership with NAMA would be guided by mutual respect and transparency.
As the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport approaches full operation, this partnership between NAMA and the Ekiti State Government is set to play a crucial role in ensuring the airport’s successful takeoff, promising a new era of enhanced air traffic services and economic development for the region.
