NAMA embarks on modernisation of Nigeria’s airspace communication

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has embarked on a comprehensive plan for the modernisation of the country’s airspace communication.

This initiative was disclosed during the recent in-house inauguration/induction for the newly appointed Chief Executive Officers and Directors of various aviation agencies held in Abuja.

Highlighting the crucial role of performance bonds in advancing the aviation sector, the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk pledged the agency’s unwavering commitment to exceeding expectations, overcoming challenges, and aligning with the Renewed Hope initiative and agenda championed by the Minister for Aviation, Festus Keyamo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Farouk underscored the agency’s dedication to enhancing communication in Nigerian airspace, taking a proactive stance by declaring an emergency on power challenges.

“The communication architecture of Nigerian airspace is now broadened, addressing issues that were prevalent before. We are dedicated to ensuring seamless communication between pilots and air traffic controllers,” stated Engr. Farouk, assuring the public of NAMA’s commitment to optimal performance and the overall benefit of the Nigerian community.

In a statement signed by Abdullahi Musa, NAMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, the agency announced that in response to its ambitious proposal, the Federal Government has granted approval for the comprehensive overhaul and modernisation of the communication architecture of the country’s airspace.

The agency added that this move signifies a collaborative effort between the government and NAMA to usher in a new era of efficiency and safety in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

NAMA has expressed optimism about the positive impact of this initiative on both air travel and overall national development, as its concerted efforts, coupled with government support, are poised to bring about significant advancements in Nigeria’s airspace communication, ensuring a safer and more efficient aviation environment.
