The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has once again earned national recognition for its exemplary performance and ethical leadership, as it was conferred with the National Integrity, Leadership, and Development Award as the Most Efficient Aviation Agency in Nigeria.

The award, presented by the Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment (CECOE) during its 2025 Summit and Awards in Abuja, celebrates NAMA’s outstanding commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability in managing the nation’s airspace.

According to the citation by the organisers, the honour underscores NAMA’s consistent dedication to upholding the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in aviation service delivery. The Centre commended the agency for setting “a new benchmark for operational efficiency and safety in Nigeria’s aviation sector.”

The citation further read: “NAMA’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability has set a new standard in the aviation industry, ensuring efficiency in its processes and overall safety in the Nigerian airspace. The agency’s excellent performance is a reflection of the exceptional leadership and management style of its Managing Director and Chief Executive, Engr Ahmed Umar Farouk.”

CECOE described Engr Farouk as “a visionary technocrat and reformer in the aviation sector who represents a rare blend of technical competence and ethical clarity.” It added that his transformational leadership has continued to strengthen Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure while enhancing institutional credibility and public confidence in the agency.

In a related development, NAMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr Abdullahi Musa, also received the Individual Integrity Award from the same organisation.

Dr Musa was lauded for his unwavering commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in NAMA’s communications with stakeholders, customers, and the general public.

The citation accompanying his award praised his professionalism and dedication, describing him as “a model of ethical leadership whose approach to public communication has fostered a culture of trust and confidence among NAMA’s stakeholders and the travelling public.”

The Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment (CECOE), organisers of the awards, is a non-governmental organisation devoted to advancing ethical leadership, integrity, and accountability in public service.

Its annual summit and awards recognise individuals and institutions whose conduct and policies demonstrate a strong moral compass and commitment to national development.

Reacting to the awards, Dr Musa expressed appreciation on behalf of the agency, noting that the recognition was a call for even greater commitment to service excellence.

He emphasised that NAMA remains steadfast in its mission to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable air navigation services across the country.

The dual recognition of NAMA and its spokesperson, he said, reflects not only the agency’s operational competence but also its institutional culture of integrity – an essential pillar for sustainable growth and public trust in Nigeria’s aviation system.
