NAMA Mourns Loss of Veteran Aviation Journalist, Mrs Shola Adekola

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mrs Shola Adekola, a respected and active member of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC).
In a condolence message addressed to the Chairman of LAAC, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of NAMA, Engr Ahmed Umar Farouk, conveyed the agency’s heartfelt sympathy over the tragic loss.
Engr Farouk described Mrs Adekola’s death as a significant blow to the aviation industry, noting that her expertise and professionalism were invaluable to the sector.
He highlighted her balanced reportage of aviation events, which earned her widespread respect among industry stakeholders.
“As an agency, we are not only saddened by her untimely exit but shocked that it had to happen at this time when her invaluable services to the nation were needed the most. On the few times I have had the opportunity of interacting with Madam Shola, she exhibited extreme professionalism, dedication and passion for the advancement of the aviation industry,” Farouk said.
The NAMA boss praised Mrs Adekola’s remarkable contributions to aviation journalism, stating that her legacy of balanced reporting and dedication to the industry would remain indelible.
“Her towering contributions to the industry, especially in balanced reportage of events, will remain indelible in the annals of time. Please accept our heartfelt condolences at this trying period,” he added.
He prayed for the repose of her soul and comfort for her family and the aviation community.
“May God Almighty grant her soul eternal rest. Amen,” he said.
Until her sudden death, Mrs Shola Adekola was widely known for her in-depth reporting and insightful analysis of aviation matters, earning her a reputation as one of the most influential voices in the sector.
According to family arrangements, the late Mrs Adekola will be buried on the 19th of March, 2025, at the Memorial Garden of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Kilometre 46, Redemption City, Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.
