NANTA, Kenyan travel agencies to assess IATA’s new settlement system

The National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) will host the Kenyan Association of Travel Agencies (KATA) on a familiarization visit in Lagos.

The visit, which is slated for Thursday, August 8, 2019, is aimed at assessing operations of travel agents via the New Generation of IATA Settlement Systems (NewGen ISS) since migration.

The NewGen ISS aims to modernize the industry’s settlement system for transactions between travel agents and airlines.

A statement signed by the Executive Secretary, NANTA, Olobor Osaro Sylvester, says KATA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nicanor Sabula and Treasurer, Dr. Joseph Kithitu will be part of the familiarisation tour with NANTA.

During the visit, the officials will meet with the Executive members/officials of NANTA and visit a few travel agents in an effort to understand the impact of NewGen ISS on their operations.

The two bodies (KATA and NANTA) will also brainstorm on other crucial issues that will provide the much-needed fillip to the travel industry.

Among other things, they will discuss the NANTA Agents’ card, meet with Vapo Africa’s Director and discuss opportunities for collaboration between the two Associations.
