NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition 2024: Finals Disappoint Amid Aspirations, State Champions Emerge

The much-anticipated finals of the NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition 2024, held across Anambra, Delta, and Edo States, have left many in the audience disappointed as the event failed to inspire hopes for future prospects among the participating stylists.

Despite the initial excitement, the competition, in partnership with Darling Hair, ended on a low note with lacklustre representation and turnout from the stylists who had qualified at the state preliminary stages.

In Anambra State, Ms Ogechukwu Amanze emerged victorious, clinching first place with strong contenders closely trailing her.

The second and third positions were also awarded, offering consolation to those who performed well.

However, the overall atmosphere was underwhelming, reflecting the challenges faced by the contestants during the competition.

Delta State’s finals saw Mrs Erunai Nfiru taking the first prize with relative ease, as she was the only contestant to make it past the preliminary stage.

New contestants from the state participated, but none were able to match the required standards, leaving the competition without a sense of robust rivalry or excitement.

In Edo State, the finals were more competitive, with Ms Janet Nadum securing the first position.

She was followed by Abigail Godwin in second place, while Ireahe claimed third position.

Despite this, the competition struggled to generate much enthusiasm, mirroring the challenges seen in the other states.

The NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition, which began in June 2024 and travelled through 14 states, reached its climax with the distribution of prizes.

The first-place winners received a 2.5 KVA generator, while second-place winners were awarded a suspended hair dryer.

Third-place winners went home with a hair curler, hair dryer, and hair straightener.

Numerous consolation prizes were also given to participants who had taken part in the competition.

As the finals in these states conclude, preparations are now underway for other states to host their own NASHCO Hair Creativity events, although questions remain about how future competitions will address the challenges and unmet aspirations seen in this year’s series.
