NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition Finals in Port Harcourt, Aba, Enugu Showcase Unique African Talent

The National Association of Hairstylists and Cosmetologists (NASHCO) held the finals of its Hair Creativity Competition in Port Harcourt, Aba, and Enugu, with each event highlighting the distinct and diverse craftsmanship of African women.

The competition saw an impressive turnout and exceeded expectations, showcasing the unique skills of local stylists.

State presidents of NASHCO attended their respective events, lending their support to the contestants, who took the stage to display extraordinary hairstyling talent.

The competition generated excitement as stylists and models engaged in a high-energy exhibition of creativity, leaving spectators in awe.

Port Harcourt was hailed as the standout venue, with the finalists in Aba garnering overwhelming support, while Enugu was praised for its impeccable time management.

Across all three states, the competition was lively, with hairstylists competing fiercely to secure the grand prize in their regions.

In his welcome address, NASHCO National Secretary Godwin Oghenechuko urged stylists to take their work seriously, emphasising the potential for national recognition of their craft.

He wished them success and eagerly anticipated the announcement of the grand finale winner.

Miebi, a representative of Kanekalon, one of the event’s key sponsors, delivered special product education sessions, highlighting the superior qualities of Kanekalon hair extensions.

She engaged in an interactive session with the stylists, offering tips on hairdressing and styling, followed by a lively Q&A where participants won various prizes.

As the competition unfolded in each state, stylists completed their creative hair designs on live models before returning to the stage for the moment of judgement. The audience applauded as the winners were announced.

In Rivers State, Gifty Dimuban took the top prize, with Amaka Esther placing second and Victoria Phillip third.

In Abia, Goodness Thompson secured first place, while Onoduagu Favour came in second. Enugu’s top prize went to Igwe Gift, with Okeke Esther in second and Chibuzor Oluchi in third.

The finals were held at three notable venues: De Millennium Event Centre in Port Harcourt on Monday, 14th October; Lekota Spring Hotel in Aba on Wednesday, 16th October; and Holy Ghost Hall in Enugu on Friday, 18th October 2024.

Kanekalon and its partners expressed optimism about the future of hairstyling in Nigeria, encouraging stylists to leverage Kanekalon products to grow their businesses and enhance their skills.
