NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition in Kaduna Adjudged Best in Series

The National Association of Hairstylists and Cosmetologists (NASHCO) has once again raised the bar in hairstyling and cosmetology, with its recently concluded Hair Creativity Competition in Kaduna State being adjudged the best in the series.

The competition, known for its excellent organisation and impressive turnout, left stakeholders, participants, and the audience in awe, as stylists and their models delivered performances that surpassed expectations.

The event, which spanned three days, took place at various locations across Kaduna, starting at the Beracah Place in Ungwan Boro on Monday, October 14.

It moved to the Catholic Social Centre, Independence Way, on Wednesday, October 16, before concluding at the Aguyilo Multipurpose Hall, Ungwan Romi, on Thursday, October 17.

The vibrant atmosphere at each venue was palpable, with contestants and their teams preparing meticulously for the day’s showdown, all with the goal of qualifying for the grand finale slated for October 28, 2024.

The president of NASHCO’s Kaduna chapter, Tina, kicked off the proceedings by introducing her executive committee.

However, the spotlight quickly shifted to the ten contestants – each comprising a hairstylist and their assistant – who took the stage to showcase their skills in creative hair styling.

The excitement was infectious, as NASHCO members and spectators alike participated eagerly, creating an electrifying environment that enhanced the competitive spirit.

Delivering the welcome address, NASHCO’s National President, Mrs Angela Akanle, urged women to recognise their importance as the backbone of every home.

She encouraged them to take their craft seriously, stressing that with dedication, they could not only improve their businesses but also push for national recognition through initiatives like ‘Beauty Day.’

Mrs Akanle wished all the participants success and expressed her eagerness to see who would emerge victorious at the grand finale.

One of the key highlights of the event was the presence of Charlotte, the representative of Kanekalon, one of the competition’s main sponsors.

During a special product education session, Charlotte highlighted the superior qualities of Kanekalon’s X-pression hair extensions, particularly its tangle-free and non-flammable properties, setting it apart from inferior alternatives that pose both aesthetic and safety risks.

Her presentation sparked a spontaneous question-and-answer session, where participants had the opportunity to win various prizes while deepening their understanding of the product.

As the contestants completed their live creative hair styling tasks on their models, they returned to the stage for the moment of judgement.

The winners were greeted with enthusiastic applause from the audience, marking the end of a highly competitive and entertaining event.

Throughout the competition, hairstylists exchanged tips and best practices on hairdressing and styling, with many vowing to switch entirely to X-pression products.

The hands-on nature of the practical sessions emphasised the importance of proper hairstyling techniques, and participants were encouraged to look ahead and seize future opportunities, as even large organisations may come to seek their services.

Charlotte also engaged the hairstylists in an interactive session, reinforcing the potential of X-pression products to boost their businesses.

She underscored the optimism shared by Kanekalon and its partners regarding the future of hairstyling in Nigeria and beyond, encouraging stylists to take advantage of the high-quality products on offer.

As the countdown to the grand finale continues, the Kaduna NASHCO Hair Creativity Competition will be remembered as one of the most outstanding events in recent times, with its seamless organisation, active participation, and the invaluable learning experiences shared by all.
