NCAA @ 25: Onyema Applauds Aviation Sector Transformation Under Festus Keyamo’s Leadership
Chairman of Air Peace, Dr Allen Onyema

The Chairman of Air Peace, Dr Allen Onyema, has commended the remarkable strides achieved in Nigeria’s aviation sector under the leadership of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Onyema, represented by Air Peace’s Communication Analyst, Hawau Alege, praised the NCAA’s unwavering commitment to safety and efficiency.

In his address, Onyema emphasised the critical role played by the NCAA in maintaining Nigeria’s outstanding aviation safety record.

He noted that while other parts of the world, including Europe, America, and Asia, have well-established regulatory frameworks, the NCAA’s oversight is uniquely safety-centric, a factor that has significantly contributed to the stellar safety records of Nigerian airlines.

“We must acknowledge the immense strides we’ve made in positioning Nigeria as a leading force in global civil aviation. One of our challenges, however, is the tendency not to fully appreciate the value of our institutions.

“The NCAA stands out as one of the most effective and safety-focused civil aviation bodies in the world,” Onyema stated.

He further lauded the Minister for his transformative leadership, which has ushered in an era of infrastructural development and policy reforms in the sector.

According to Onyema, Keyamo’s innovative approach has led to improved ease of doing business, streamlined processes, and enhanced operational standards within the industry.

This transformation, he stressed, would not have been possible without the steadfast commitment of the NCAA under the leadership of its Director General, Captain Chris Najomo.

He noted that the authority has successfully balanced its regulatory functions with efficiency and professionalism, ensuring that the industry adheres to the highest safety standards.

“For the first time in two decades, all Nigerian airlines have come together to acknowledge the positive changes. Airlines now recognise a new era of safety and operational excellence, with no compromise on the high standards we’ve set,” he said.

Reaffirming Air Peace’s support for the ongoing revolution in the sector, Onyema pledged continued collaboration with the NCAA and the Ministry of Aviation to further elevate Nigeria’s standing in the global aviation industry.

The NCAA’s 25th-anniversary celebration served as a platform to reflect on the authority’s journey, achievements, and the prospects of a more robust and dynamic aviation industry in Nigeria.
