NCAA Petitions AGF, IGP to Investigate, Prosecute K1 De Ultimate Over In-Flight Incident

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has formally petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, calling for a thorough criminal investigation and possible prosecution of renowned Fuji musician, King Wasiu Omogbolahan Olasunkanmi Adewale Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, over a recent incident onboard a ValueJet flight.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on Tuesday, 5th August 2025, during ValueJet’s scheduled flight VK201, is said to have disrupted standard operational procedures and raised serious concerns regarding passenger conduct and compliance with aviation safety protocols.

Preliminary reports suggest that K1 De Ultimate was allegedly involved in behaviour that contravenes the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023. Though the full details of the incident are still being compiled, the NCAA has stressed the critical need for accountability and the strict enforcement of safety standards within Nigeria’s airspace.

In a petition addressed to the Attorney-General and the Inspector-General of Police, the NCAA requested an extensive criminal probe into the matter and, if necessary, the prosecution of the musician under the relevant provisions of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations and other applicable laws.

As part of broader preventive measures, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has issued an advisory to the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), urging member airlines to consider placing K1 De Ultimate on a No-Fly List for all commercial flights, pending the conclusion of official investigations.

This move, according to the NCAA, aligns with international best practices that prioritise the safety and security of passengers, crew members, and airline operations.

The advisory also signals the Authority’s zero-tolerance stance towards any act that undermines the integrity of the aviation sector, irrespective of an individual’s public stature or celebrity status.

“The NCAA reiterates its commitment to ensuring that no individual, regardless of their status or public image, undermines the integrity of our aviation industry, as passengers are held to the same standards of behaviour and compliance within Nigeria’s airspace,” said Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.

The Authority assured the public that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
