NCAT Honours Immediate Past Acting Rector, Joseph Shaka Imalighwe, at Retirement, 65th Birthday

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has paid glowing tributes to its immediate past Acting Rector, Mr Joseph Shaka Imalighwe, during a colourful send-forth ceremony held in his honour.
The event, which also coincided with his 65th birthday, marked his official retirement from active service after years of distinguished contribution to the aviation training institution.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Rector and Chief Executive of NCAT, Dr Danjuma Ismaila, lauded Mr Imalighwe for what he described as “sterling and impactful years of service,” noting that his tenure exemplified humility, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to the growth of the college.
Dr Ismaila commended the celebrant for the enduring legacy he leaves behind, stating:
“Your career journey reflects a very humble beginning that rose to the peak through sheer determination and dedication. You have earned admiration and commendation from staff across the college. We assure you that even in retirement, you will never walk alone, as NCAT will continue to stand by you.”
The Rector further prayed for Mr Imalighwe, wishing him sound health, peace, and happiness as he transitions into life as a senior citizen.
In his remarks, Mr Imalighwe expressed profound gratitude to God and to the staff of NCAT, whom he acknowledged as instrumental to his career success. He urged colleagues to uphold the values of humility, kindness, and mutual support in their professional and personal relationships.
“It pays to imbibe virtues such as kindness and humility,” he said, reflecting on his own career path. “These, coupled with God’s abundant grace, have shaped and sustained me.”
The occasion drew a large gathering of NCAT staff members, who poured encomiums on the retiring Rector for his decades of service and positive impact on the institution.
Many described him as a model of integrity, a mentor, and a man whose leadership left an indelible mark on the college’s development.
