NDLEA condoles NAF over Ondo aircraft crash

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has expressed condolences to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) following the aircraft crash in Ondo State that claimed the lives of NAF personnel and others.

The NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), conveyed the agency’s sympathy in a condolence letter addressed to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.

Marwa described the crash as devastating, saying the news was received by the agency with profound grief.

He extended the NDLEA’s condolences to the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force, its officers, men and women, as well as the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.

The NDLEA boss paid tribute to the Nigerian Air Force for what he described as its consistent demonstration of patriotism, gallantry and commitment to defending the nation.

He said the death of personnel who had dedicated their lives to national service represented a significant loss not only to the Air Force but also to Nigeria and the wider national security community.

“In this moment of deep sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families of the fallen heroes, as well as the entire NAF family,” Marwa said.

He prayed that God would comfort the bereaved families, strengthen the Nigerian Air Force and grant eternal rest to those who died in the crash.

Marwa also assured the Air Force of the solidarity of the NDLEA leadership and its entire workforce as the military and the affected families come to terms with the tragedy.

The agency said its officers, men and women stood with the Nigerian Air Force during the difficult period, extending its warm regards to the military institution and the families of the victims.

The Ondo crash adds to a series of aviation tragedies that have claimed the lives of Nigerian military personnel, underscoring the risks faced by members of the armed forces in the course of their national duties.

The condolence message was signed by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja, and dated Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
