NFF Yet to Finalise Contract with Bruno Labbadia Despite Announcement
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to formalise a contract with Bruno Labbadia, despite an official announcement declaring him as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, according to recent reports.
On Tuesday morning, the NFF made an official statement confirming that Labbadia would be taking the reins of the national team.
“The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect,” said Mohammed Sanusi, the Secretary General of the NFF.
However, sources within the federation have revealed that contractual negotiations with the German coach are still ongoing.
The NFF is reportedly aiming to finalise the agreement by Friday or over the weekend.
This timeline is critical as Labbadia is expected to lead the Super Eagles in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Republic of Benin on September 7.
Following the match against Benin, Nigeria will face Rwanda three days later as part of the same qualifying series.
It is hoped that swift conclusion of the contract would be essential to ensure that Labbadia can fully prepare and strategise for these crucial fixtures.
