Nigeria: Akwa Ibom’s Victor Attah Int’l Airport earns ministerial commendation for exemplary infrastructure
Nigeria’s Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has lauded the Akwa Ibom Government for its exceptional strides in aviation infrastructure.
Speaking during a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing developments at the Victor Attah International Airport in Akwa Ibom State earlier today – January 16, 2024, the Minister expressed his commendation for the state government’s remarkable achievements, particularly highlighting the nearing completion of the New Terminal building.
He hailed it as the best terminal facility constructed by any sub-national entity in the country, emphasising its capacity to handle both domestic and international flight operations simultaneously.
Governor Umo Eno guided the Minister through a tour, showcasing key areas of development, including the groundbreaking Maintenance, Repairs, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
Described as the first of its kind in the country, the Minister stressed its regional significance, serving not only Nigeria but the entirety of West, East, and North Africa.
The dedication of Governor Eno to these pioneering projects received special acknowledgment from the Aviation Minister.
The inspection covered crucial areas such as the MRO, the upcoming terminal building, and the newly constructed taxiway, all contributing to the airport’s growing prominence.
Governor Eno, in light of these ambitious developments, is actively seeking collaboration with the Federal Government to fully harness the airport’s potential.
The commitment of the Akwa Ibom Government to aviation development, as recognised by the Aviation Minister, marks a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure.
It positions Victor Attah International Airport as a pivotal hub for air travel across the African continent, solidifying its role in advancing the nation’s aviation capabilities.
