Nigeria Customs Achieves Remarkable Revenue Growth at Murtala Muhammed Area Command in Six Months
The Murtala Muhammed Area Command of Nigeria Customs, led by Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe, has achieved significant milestones in revenue generation and anti-smuggling activities, building on the successes of the previous year.
Since his appointment, Comptroller Awe has implemented strategies aligned with World Customs best practices, enhancing ease of business, facilitating trade, reducing cargo clearance times, and boosting revenue.
From January to June 2024, the Command collected a total of N80.351 billion in Customs duties and other charges. This marks a substantial increase compared to the N38.707 billion collected during the same period in 2023, reflecting a 107.5 percent growth.
In addition to revenue gains, the Command recorded an export value of N266.655 million from January to June 2024, with a Free on Board (FOB) value of $204,597.07.

Awe expressed gratitude to the officers and men of the Murtala Muhammed Area Command for their dedication to combating smuggling and urged them to adhere strictly to engagement rules in their duties.
