Nigeria Customs Chief Welcomes NAGAFF Delegation, Strengthens Commitments for Enhanced Collaboration

In a move to explore collaborative initiatives, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, CGC Adewale Adeniyi, warmly received a delegation from the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) on Tuesday, 29 October 2024. 

The delegation, led by NAGAFF’s National President, High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, met with the Customs Chief at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Headquarters in Abuja.

In his address, CGC Adeniyi praised NAGAFF’s resilience and dedication, expressing optimism about the association’s longstanding commitment to fostering effective partnerships with the NCS. 

“These are all possibilities, and we will be willing to work with you,” Adeniyi remarked, underscoring his readiness to identify and pursue areas of mutual interest with NAGAFF.

The Comptroller-General took the opportunity to update the delegation on NCS’s ongoing transformative initiatives, aimed at enhancing trade facilitation, bolstering border security, and integrating advanced technology into Customs operations. 

Highlighting several key projects currently underway, CGC Adeniyi emphasised the importance of operational efficiency as a cornerstone of NCS’s mission.

Adding a note of anticipation, Adeniyi confirmed his intention to participate in NAGAFF’s upcoming Silver Jubilee Anniversary, scheduled to celebrate 25 years of the association’s role as a pivotal stakeholder in customs operations and policy implementation.

“Your remarkable achievements since assuming office cannot be overstated,” remarked Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, commending CGC Adeniyi and his team for their substantial contributions to national economic growth and security.

Chief Ezisi also formally invited the CGC to the Silver Jubilee celebration, an event poised to honour NAGAFF’s two and a half decades of collaboration with the NCS. 

He noted the association’s active preparations for the forthcoming CGC Conference, at which they intend to unveil their newly acquired N500 million Secretariat, underscoring NAGAFF’s commitment to continued involvement in Nigeria’s customs and trade sector.

Among the NAGAFF delegation were key figures including Chief Afam Chukwuma, Deputy National President (Seaport) and Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Silver Jubilee; Igwe Kingsley, National Secretary; Princess Chi Eze, National Vice President (Western Port); and Melody Obehi, National Treasurer. 

The meeting underscored both organisations’ mutual dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s trade infrastructure, with NCS and NAGAFF pledging to further align their goals for enhanced national economic development and security.
