Nigeria Customs Elevates 1,419 Junior Officers in Latest Promotion Drive
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the promotion of 1,419 junior officers across various ranks, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to enhancing workforce motivation and service delivery.
According to a statement signed by Abdullahi Maiwada, Chief Superintendent of Customs and
National Public Relations Officer for the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the decision was formalised during the 10th Management Meeting, presided over by the CGC, on 29 November 2024.
The comprehensive promotion exercise covered both General Duty and Support Staff officers, with recipients drawn from various ranks. Notable highlights include:
346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers were promoted from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC).
4 General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC).
372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers were elevated from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI).
188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers promoted from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).
This promotion exercise underscores the transformative leadership of CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who has prioritised career progression as a key driver for fostering a motivated workforce.
His administration’s commitment to employee growth aims to inspire a culture of excellence and propel the NCS toward achieving its strategic goals of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the suppression of smuggling.
In his congratulatory message to the newly promoted officers, CGC Adeniyi urged them to renew their dedication to the Service’s core mandates, emphasising the importance of hard work, integrity, and professionalism in fulfilling their duties.
Meanwhile, the NCS revealed that the promotion list for senior officers is currently under review and awaiting approval by the Nigeria Customs Service Board.
