Nigeria Customs’ Staff College Graduates 50 Officers from Junior Course 21

The Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, has successfully graduated 50 officers from Junior Course 21, marking the completion of an intensive three-month training programme designed to enhance middle-level management capacity within the Nigeria Customs Service.

The graduation events commenced with a regimental dinner held on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, and culminated in a formal ceremony on Friday, 2 May 2025, at the College’s Ahmad Makarfi Hall.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, was represented at both events by Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Suleiman Chiroma, who heads the Service’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).

In his address to the graduating officers, DCG Chiroma lauded their dedication and resilience throughout the duration of the course. He emphasised the importance of upholding the core values of the Service—discipline, professionalism, and integrity.

“The College has equipped you with the requisite knowledge for higher staff and command responsibilities,” he stated. “Your value to the Service and your fatherland has been greatly enhanced, and you are now better prepared to contribute meaningfully to the attainment of our strategic objectives.”

Also speaking at the event, the Commandant of the College, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Oluyomi Adebakin, congratulated the officers and reminded them of the high standards expected of them following their training.

She reaffirmed the College’s commitment to excellence, stressing the need for continued discipline in the discharge of duties.

“The Nigeria Customs Service has invested significantly in your development. You must make the most of this opportunity. The College maintains zero tolerance for indiscipline, and mediocrity will not be celebrated,” ACG Adebakin declared.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates and the award of the Passed Junior Staff Course (PJSC) qualification to the officers.

Graduates expressed appreciation for the knowledge and skills gained, noting the training’s transformative impact on their leadership and operational competencies.

The newly commissioned graduates are expected to assume strategic roles across various commands and formations nationwide, contributing actively to the realisation of the Service’s core mandates in trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and revenue generation.
