Nigeria, four other countries secure round of 16 berths in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations
Nigeria has secured a spot in Round of 16 at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Ivory Coast.
Four other countries, including Equatorial Guinea, Senegal, Cape Verde, and Egypt have also advanced to the Round of 16.
The latest qualifying teams secured their spots following the conclusion of Monday’s Group A and Group B final matches.
Equatorial Guinea dominated with a 4-0 victory over Ivory Coast, Nigeria secured a 1-0 win against Guinea-Bissau, and Egypt played to a 2-2 draw against Cape Verde.
Ghana was sent packing after playing a 2-2 draw against Mozambique. Egypt claimed the second position in Group B, while Senegal and Cape Verde had already secured their knockout stage spots after winning their initial two matches.
The Round of 16 will begin from January 27.
